How do I apply for financial aid?
LA College of Creative Arts has teamed up with a number of financial institutions such as Bank of Ireland, Ulster Bank and the Credit Union to provide students with the best rates in student loans.
Can I get funding?
The Technical Employment Support Grant (TESG)
Each application is considered individually by FAS and must be relevant to your Action Plan
You will need to:
- Visit your local FAS office and speak to your Placement Officer
- Explain to FAS Placement Officer that you would like to attend this course to develop an Action Plan for your return to work
- If one of our courses is essential to helping you find employment, FAS may fund the training up to 100%

Can I get a job when I finish the course?
You have chosen one of the most challenging fields to gain employment! During your course you will have the opportunity to participate in live professional photo shoots, in-house and on location, enabling you to gain that essential portfolio for future employment. Photo-shoots give students the opportunity to network with upcoming models, leading photographers and stylists within the industry. LA College of Creative Arts offers students the opportunity to partake in a career placement programme, whereby they get the opportunity to network with up and coming models, leading photographers and stylists. Past experiences include; fashion shows; photo-calls; theatre work; TV ads; magazine shoots; music videos; short films; event based work and client based work. Clients include; Vodafone; Drury Communication; Britians Next Top Model; Sky One's Got To Dance; Samsung; Hotpress; TV Now; RTE Guide; Confetti; TV3; RTE and TG4.
Students also have the opportunity to take part in our 'Start Your Own Business Course'. Students will be taught not only about accounts, tax, customer service, branding and key contacts in the industry but also how to build your own website on a budget! LA College of Creative Arts offers an open door policy to all past students whereby you can sit in on any class that you would like to brush up your skills on, free of charge. This ensures that you are aware of the latest techniques and products in the industry.

What jobs can I pursue?
It depends what particular course you undertake during your studies at LA College of Creative Arts. Please see below the different job options one can pursue within the beauty, fashion and make-up industry:
Fashion graduates go into many different areas of the fashion industry such as designing 'in-house', or as free-lance consultants. Fashion designers may go into design management, journalism, fashion teaching, fashion styling, forecasting or merchandising. Other career paths include, film, theatre and television design, retail management and retail buying.

Are the courses full time or part time?
Our courses run on a full and part-time basis. Daytime courses run between the hours of 10am - 4pm and evening classes take place from 6.30-9.00pm. We also offer weekend classes on Saturday’s from 10am-4pm.
The duration of courses range from one day workshops to our three year degree programs.
Where is the college located?
LA College of Creative Arts Dublin is located on the first floor at 4/5 Chatham Street. We are located directly opposite the Great Outdoor Shops which is approximately 20 yards from Grafton Street, St. Stephen's Green end. The student bookings office is located at 26 South William Street, Dublin 2.
LA College of Creative Arts London is located in Covent Garden and LA College of Creative Arts Los Angeles is located in Burbank, California.
Can I visit the college?
Absolutely! We encourage students to visit the academy and meet with the lecturers. We also run exclusive taster courses which are aimed at giving you a taste of where a career in the fashion, beauty or make-up artistry industry can take you. Is there a uniform or dress code?
There is no uniform, however we do recommend comfortable clothes and shoes e.g. jeans or black trousers. Please note that no trainers or tracksuits are allowed.
Beauty Therapy Students are required to wear tunics which are supplied when you begin the course along with black leggings and black flat canvas shoes.
Do LA College of Creative Arts accept International Students?

Can you advise me on accommodation options?
We can recommend local student accommodation facilities as well as putting you in touch with other students attending the course who are also moving to Dublin, London and Los Angeles to pursue their studies with the college.

What qualification will I get?
LA College of Creative Arts Courses are accredited by internationally recognised awarding bodies such as; ITEC, SQA, BABTEC, CIBTAC, FETAC and City and Guilds. All courses offered are also LA College of Creative Arts Certified.
What does the application process entail?
All courses start at beginners level (excluding 4 Day Advance, Advance SFX Course and 5 Day Ultimate Pro course), therefore there is no experience needed for the courses. There is an interview application for the following courses: Intro to Fashion Design, 2 Year Fashion: Design & Production in Retail, ITEC Beauty Therapy, 1 Year Make-Up Specialist Course and 3 Year Creative programme
How is the course assessed?
Each course is assessed daily. Assessments are made on the overall progress of the student from their ability to apply themselves to the subject, to support and conduct positive professional attitude towards customer service and client care and their ability to maintain high standards of hygiene from their technique to their working station,. Each qualification include assessments throughout the course from weekly to monthly assessments and continous assessments throughout the course.
What is expected from me as a student?
An attendance rate of 90% is expected from each student in order for students to graduate from the course and sit their exams. Qualities that we expect from our students include: a strong work ethic, positive professional attitude, to apply and commit to each course subject and most importantly to do it with passion.
I am doing my leaving certificate, what do I need to apply for the course?

What is the difference between the ITEC Diploma in Beauty Therapy and the ITEC Beauty Specialist courses?
The Beauty specialist diploma forms an element of the Diploma course. In doing the Beauty Specialist Diploma, students will cover, skin and Eye treatments, make up, waxing and manicure pedicure along with Business awareness, to ITEC level 2 standard. It is a great introduction to a career in beauty and qualifies the therapist to work in Salons and Spas as well as make up counters and in make up artistry.
The Diploma in Beauty Therapy course includes the beauty specialist diploma level 2, and Body treatments Level 3 (including modules in Swedish massage, anatomy and physiology, figure diagnosis & body electrical treatments) and finally facial electrical treatments Level 3. This gives a great qualification in Beauty therapy as a whole. It has all the modules of facial and body therapy required for a career with internationally renowned cruise ship company - Steiner. It is an internationally recognised qualification, enabling a qualified therapist to explore the world.
Is there a discount programme included in the course?
Depending on the course duration, LA College of Creative Arts students are eligible for the Bobbi Brown Pro Scheme, M.A.C Cosmetics Pro Student Programme, Inglot Pro Scheme & Illamasqua Pro Scheme. All LA College of Creative Arts students will receive a LA Student card which entitles students to 30% off all LA Products and general student discount schemes.
Where are our students now?
Brigh Egan, Graduate of Module 3
Brigh graduated from the Module 3 course 4 years ago. Brigh has since embarked on an amazing journey as a make-up artist. She has enjoyed some time developing her skills as a freelance artist. Brigh then began her career in London starting in the prestigious store 'Harrods' where she secured a job as a make-up artist with Laura Mercier Cosmetics. Working in Harrods, each day brought something new and exciting, celebrities and incredibly famous people came to Harrods everyday and on occasion she would find herself assisting a customer with her make-up that she had just been reading about in a magazine that morning!
During her time with the brand she had the unbelievable experience of assisting one of the most iconic artists of this generation, Laura Mercier herself, at a private engagement in Harrods, which as a make-up artist was something she could have only dreamed of! Brigh then joined the fabulous team at MAC Cosmetics in Harrods. She has now come back to LA to join out team of Pro Tutors, and we are delighted to have her wealth of experience back here at LA!
Naomh Geday, Graduate of Module 3
Naomh specialised in bridal make-up with LA College of Creative Arts, and continued her career in launching LA White, the five star dedicated bridal service. She has also worked on many leading campaigns for world famous cosmetic houses such as Mabelline, Paris and Max Factor. Naomh has worked with a number of high profile clients including Ciaran Sweeney, Benetton, X-Factor's Olly Murs and a host of Irish celebrities.
She has participated in major events like the Ford Super Model Search, tending to Katie Ford herself, Off the Rails and her work is regularly featured on television and in leading fashion and bridal publications, such as The Wedding Journal, Confetti and the RTE Guide. We are also happy to announce that Naomh is also a part of the LA Pro Tutor Team!
Laura Kinney, Graduate of Module 3
Since graduating from LA College of Creative Arts, Laura has worked for numerous cosmetic brands such as MAC, Bobbi Brown and Pout. After becoming a freelance artist, Laura progressed to working with top photographers on numerous photo-shoots, for magazines such as Kiss, Stellar, The Wedding Diary & Irish Times Magazine ot name but a few.
As well as her name being prominent in the wedding industry, Laura also has worked on high profile tv series and events such as 'Trinny & Susannah' Fashion Show, Xpose, Ireland Am and many other fashion & hair shows. Now to date we are happy to have Laura on our Team as LA Pro tutor.
