COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course has the unique ability to train every student for a dual career, working as a beauty therapist and professional make-up artist. Not only will every module covered on this curriculum prepare students for their assessments leading to ITEC beauty therapy diplomas and they will also be fully trained in bridal, catwalk and high fashion make-up artistry to Make-Up Application/ LA Module 2 Certificate in Natural and Bridal Make-Up. This does not only ensure that all graduates enter this dynamic industry as extremely highly skilled therapist but as more employable and in demand professionals.

The variety of opportunities that can be availed of throughout the world allow graduates to full fill any desire they may have to travel internationally and gain new career and life experiences. Recent graduates have found positions in salons, spas, on cruise ships and in retail as well as product sales and distribution, freelance make-up artistry and starting their own business.

As the beauty and make-up industry moves at such a rapid pace, LA College of Creative Artsis passionate about constantly keeping the course content relevant and up-to-date. All tutors are practicing beauty therapists and make-up artists enabling them to share their vast and varied skill set and treatment knowledge, resulting in the highest level of academic training and hands on practical experience available within the beauty education industry today.

The ITEC Beauty Therapy element of this course will focus as much on the theoretical skills needed for the profession as the practical training. All students will attend the LA College of Creative Arts campus where they will have access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The course is delivered by experienced beauty therapists who are practicing at a very high level within the beauty and spa industry. Core subjects covered are skin & eye treatments, waxing, mani/pedi massage, facial & body electricals. All practical elements are supported by the relevant theory using LA College of Creative Art’s notes. Every component of the Make-Up Application/ LA Module 2 Certificate in Natural and Bridal Make-Up will be taught by a core team of reputable make-up artists all of which are regularly featured in the world of print media, celebrity, film and television. Each element of this certificate will be taught through interactive demonstrations followed by a practical session to ensure students grasp the skill set required to achieve the desired result.

All students that embark on this course will be given an Essential Beauty Therapy Starter Kit, eyelash tint kit, two LA College of Creative Arts tunics and Essential LA College of Creative Arts Academy notes. To prepare students for their involvement working within the beauty industry it is essential to gain as much practical experience as possible. We at LA College of Creative Arts pride ourselves on offering our students the practical skills required to make an easy transition from ‘college to career’. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in an end of year photo shoot where they will be asked to recreate bridal and natural make-up looks. The finished images will then form part of a professional portfolio to assist each student in their future career progression.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

• Hand Steriliser which is essential for every Therapist and is available from your local chemist/supermarket.
• A camera to record your work throughout your course and it can be digital or disposable.
• Brushes, for the makeup element. Available from LA at a discounted price of €65 for 7-piece set or €195 for 18-piece professional set.
• Lashes - Both individual and strip which can be purchased for €8.40 with your student discount. These are essential for learning how to apply them properly.
• Duo Glue - available to purchase in LA for €9.10 with your student discount.
• A note pad and pen.
• Small scissors similar to nail scissors to cut false lashes for the make-up element of your course.
• Wipes
• Towels - You will be informed of the sizes required on the first day of your course.
